1. comment the "blacklist vesafb" (but leave uncommented every others) line in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer
2. add "fbcon" and "vesafb" in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
3. add the vga=xxx in your boot list
4. update-initramfs -v -u -k $(uname -r)
Another try after a fresh install of Feisty.
