The following steps were needed:
1. Download Synaptics source from http://web.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/index.html
2. Extract the files
3. Run 'make'
4. Run 'sudo cp synaptics_drv.so /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/'
5. Reboot
Have you submitted the patch to the author of Synaptics, so it will be
included in future versions?
