papukaija, did you read my comment in the Redhat bug? It should have been re-titled and was only closed due to distro EOL (despite still existing in the following releases... *sigh*). That bug states that it is a problem with the way gnome-screensaver grabs the keyboard in general, and that clients should not need modification. Probably both bugs should be more general: it is not exclusive to menus being open or VNC.
