I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 Gnome 64-bit.

The Swap became available after I applied the updates presented to me today. But upon restarting the computer it lost the Swap again.

After you guys find a solution, could you PLEASE backport them to Ubuntu 14.04? Remember that 14.04 is an LTS and there are many of us who require an ecrypted Home and encrypted Swap.
