I should say that things work with Lubuntu 14.04.1 LTS desktop i386 (corresponding to what I try here).

In Lubuntu 14.04.1 LTS it is even possible to install 'Encrypted home with cryptswap' inside 'Encrypted disk vid LVM' and cryptswap will survive several reboots.
