Install VNC on a remote box (or VM), connect using VNC client, try to run firefox.
Stop telling users it's their fault for having mis-configured machines or using "non-standard logins" (whatever one of those is).
Jeez, I've been a fan of Ubuntu over the years, but this piece of functionality is simply broken for certain use-cases.
