The bug is confirmed with hplip 2.7.12 or 2.8.2. I'm using cups 1.3.5.

The workaround suggested by Zbigniew Luszpinski works in both cases for me (set LC_ALL to $LANG.UTF8).

The only difference is that with hplip 2.8.2 the ppd file isn't found automatically. I have to to browse and select the right file.
