but I don't understand why we need a merge?
I think all previous Ubuntu merges can be dropped, and I don't think it is worth carrying a delta just to correct some editorial mistake.
Can you please:

1. Report the packaging mistake (inclusion of backup files) to Debian (please link the Debian bug here)?
2. Check if indeed all previous Ubuntu changes can be dropped, and if so, change this to a sync request?

I've reported a packaging bug in Debian BTS [1].

Also, I have checked and some Ubuntu changes can be dropped. The bugs with non-existing thread killing and with error messages that don't show up were fixed in 1.0b-1.1ubuntu1. They were sent to Debian and are included in debian/patches/04_http404.patch

The only change that needs to be kept is the Maintainer field, because in Debian's package it is set to Debian QA group.
