Unless I've misunderstood this bug report, for example if it only applies to very specific hardware, I'm not affected by this. My hardware is
04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 02),
which uses the r8169 driver. I have upgraded to Lucid, and my MAC address has stayed the same (in particular, it's non-zero for several of the first four pairs) after many reboots. I'm using kernel 2.6.32-21-generic.
