I'm assuming the above posts were a replay of some off-list email conversation and that you aren't discussing with yourself ;)
murmur.sqlite definitely belongs in /var somewhere. It's a binary database with no user-servicable parts inside it. /var/lib/mumble/murmur.sqlite sounds perfect to me, as that also allows us to set the correct owner and permissions for the directory.
When you decide on a file structure, let me know and I'll have the default murmur.ini file we ship reflect it. That should make the diff smaller :)
PS: A user on our forums asked about debian packages. Theoretically speaking, the source package resulting from this should be usable on lenny, right?
