DC++ can be compiled with MSVC. ( poy can confirm :P )
Latest version is 0.7091.
There are possible crashes, no application is perfect.
Unless you can tell us what were you doing when it crashed or some debug stack trace, your report is quite useless.

Hello!
I was doing nothing.
So if it was usless what is an usefull bug report then?
I gave the exact crash report it gave me when it crashed.
And why doesn't the version before not crash?
Maybe my screenreader can cause crashes or maybe my shoe size-).

Anders, you would need to attach a backtrace and/or some steps to reproduce the bug. There's plenty of resources on the web how to file a bug report properly. No one else is experiencing this error, or maybe they do, but the description is too vague to recognize. Simply put, that error message is lying, the "support team" will not know anything more about the error than you do, if you tell them nothing more than that a 'an runtime error occurred'.

Hi!
Two questions.
Is there any other dc++ mailinglist where i can discuss dc++.
Secondly the message i get when dc++ stops never happend in previous
versions.
Please have pations with me.
I am not that good in doing bug reports.
Also the bug page is very kluttered for a screenreader user.
/Anders.

a screen reader? that might well be the reason behind the crash... try to un-check "Use extended menus with icons and titles" in Settings > Advanced and see if it helps. (in any case you don't need that option.)
so far you've only pasted us the standard Windows crash log, so more information is needed as to what you were doing and how to reproduce the crash.
there is a mailing list on <https:/
Jacek Sieka (arnetheduck) wrote : | #9 |
I'm sure the makers of launchpad would like to hear what they could improve for screenreader users: https:/
As to generic crash bugs, two things help: exact and reliable steps to reproduce or a backtrace using gdb (a developer tool) - if you're unable to provide either we can't help you
oh, and emtee, even though we compile with gcc we still use the ms vc runtime library (msvcrt.dll)

Actually to be able to show the problem i am having with my dc++ crashing i
need to know if dc++ saves any log files i can post here?
Please forgive me for my stupidness.

You need to run a special debug build of DC++ through a debugger application to get useful information about the crash. We can provide you this build along with instructions to a few steps what to do. If you think that you can help contact me or any developer at the DC++ public development hub ( address : adc://devpublic

Hi There!
Now i have ran the debug version of dc++.
I followed the instructions in the readme file.
When dc exited it was promting:
Program exited with code 03.
Then i typed bt full with the result:
No stack.
/Anders.
Pietry (pietry) wrote : | #15 |
Exit code 03 shouldn't mean a crash, it means that DC++ encountered a problem but it didn't kill the application, DC++ found it and returned the error code. Could you paste the whole debug text that gdb printed since you started it until it closed ?
i've updated <https:/
according to MSDN error code 3 is ERROR_PATH_
ankan (anders-pipkrokodil) wrote : Small question. | #17 |
Hello!
Regarding downloading exchndl.dll, which one of the packages on the mingw
site should i download.
The one i downloaded didn't contain that file.
/Anders.
it's called mingw-utils-
but since you've already tried with GDB and got no stack, Pietry's question stands: "Could you paste the whole debug text that gdb printed since you started it until it closed ?"

It was a rare and unsual networking or file transfer problem. Maybe it needs some special case to happen (so maybe some of your special Windows settings or problems triggered it) but this kind of errors should be handled and itsn't normal that they make DC++ crash. The commited fix is actually about better error handling of these situations.
If you experience unusual error messages or behaviour using the release build of DC++ I sent you, let us know them.
