* Extend preferences (or introduce another mean) to store credentials for data store authentication
* Besides username/password other authentication means should be supported as well (e.g., Grid credentials, public/private key authentication,...)
 * Maybe the python-keyring is a good approach to store such sensitive data: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/keyring
