I don't really see why this backport has been rejected considering that 6.06 is supposed to be a long-term distribution and 2.2 is a fairly important upgrade over 2.0, at least from a Rails perspective.
As Neil pointed out, companies have been backporting this on their own and using it successfully, so if that's the case, why would it be so difficult creating an official backport?
