For the GUI freezing issue after reboot and login, Kern opened a follow-on bug so I would like to continue the discussion there:

As far as installs failing with the build from April 14th, I just tested an install on hyper-v with the same build and it went through without issue. I suspect something was wrong with the archive but logs would be most welcome (/var/log/installer + /var/crash + journal if possible).
