I am experiencing an issue with 3D rendering in larger sized, maximized, or full screen windows, in which the window becomes unresponsive and frame rate slows to a negligible number of frames per second. There is no particular resolution cutoff at which I can reproducibly replicate this behavior, but windows using 3D graphics of size around 400x400 tend to be very responsive and work fine, whereas windows of size 1000x1000 (approximately, or greater) tend to hang.

I have reproduced this behavior in multiple applications (PyMol and glmark2). Using glmark2 benchmarks I obtain an average framerate in of 1000-2000 FPS with small windows and 0-100 FPS, depending on the benchmark, with large windows.

I have tried using every version of binary NVIDIA drivers available in the repositories, including experimental version 304.48. I do not experience the same issue with the Nouveau drivers, as performance is equally slow for both large and small windows and does not appear to correlate with window size. I use a dual monitor setup, but I can replicate the behavior when using only a single monitor as well.
