IMHO default appearance values could be better:

* The default display time is 0.5 seconds, which is very short - should be increased to 1.0
* Bold Font is disabled by default, although the default font looks much better when it is bold
* The default font size used is 16 pixel, which is very small - even with low resolution displays - this value should be increased to 24
