Ultimately, each md5 file md5 comparison seems to take around 1/2 second on this system. If we are unable to determine what is slowing down the casper-md5check or an early exit in the event of painful md5checks, can we either provide a config option to disable the casper md5 check, or make that cloud-init timeout configurable to > 600 seconds[1]?
