Yakkety (16.10) daily build 20170413 (and later) has a 10GB root volume for PV/HVM instance-store AMIs. This fix will work back to xenial as well.

To get a list of daily yakkety images from this year sorted by creation date you can run:
$ aws ec2 describe-images --owners 099720109477 --filter "Name=name,Values=ubuntu/images-testing/*ubuntu-yakkety-daily-amd64-server-2017*" | jq -s '.[] | .["Images"] | sort_by(.["CreationDate"])'
