Thomas, the nova patch 85a248b62cdc4cf6cc415e6c32c9c4a8f6c80913 "Additional qemu safety checking on base images" probably misses some mock on the detect_file_format method that was added in the patch, hence the above test failures.

I'm just reviewing the new patch.
