I've successfully tested:

Juju 2.0:

Local LXD provider (beta 7)
MAAS 1.9 (beta 7) - Juju 2.0 writes extra entries into /etc/hosts for peers in the same service (at least), so even though the machine hostname does not match the MAAS DNS hostname for the same IP, it appears to just work.

Juju 1.25.5:

OpenStack provider with full forward/reverse DNS
