Hello,

Thank you for writing to us regarding this problem. Unfortunately, we cannot provide much help because your description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

You can provide screenshots of the pages where you are observing problems or getting an error message that is confusing.

Regards,

- Daniel

There is in fact no explanation what function that checkbox with the sentence of "Service authorization for Ubuntu.com" means, especially in context of "personal data request".

See attached pictures.

Hi, which service are you getting this from? meaning, as explained above, I still need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

In particular, step 1 is missing - I need to know which service/page are you going to, that redirects you to Ubuntu SSO with that particular request.

1. Registrating an account to ubuntu.com pro, receiving a mail called "Finishing your registration. Clicking on the link in this mail to confirm my email address.
2. I expected to confirm my email address
3. I do get a validation of my email address but also a "personal data request". There is no explanation of where this data is shared and what it actually is requested for. To login? To be part of Ubuntu.com Pro? To? There is no information who I share this information with and where this will be visible as well as no option to actually decide which part of my information I do want to share.

To continue to log in I am forced to activate a checkbox called "Service authorization for Ubuntu.com". There is no explanation what this checkbox means and what kind of personal data request "Service authorization for Ubuntu.com" is. There is also no explanation which service I authorize activating the checkbox. I did ask for help in #ubuntu on Libera.chat At the time nobody could explain the meaning of "Service authorization for Ubuntu.com" at all.

Thanks for the detailed explanation!

Ubuntu SSO just shows the description sent by the peer requesting authorization (in this case, Ubuntu Pro). It's just an authorization to generate and share a bearer token with ubuntu Pro (similar to e.g. logging into a site with github, facebook, google).

This is not a bug in Ubuntu SSO, since we just display what the peer asks us to.

I can probably change the string that appears; my question to you is, what would you like it to say?

"Service authorization for" ... what should we put here?

I downloaded Ubuntu under the explicit goal of building as infallible a network as possible for a networking project/design I might eventually want to implement in a professional environment. While, the answer was what I expected it was, it woulda been nice to see a little (i) drop down/expandable giving explanation. That said, since daniel posed the question before me, this thread was very easy to find for whoever cares to check google.
