Note to reproducers, at least on kate it only happens on second drag, cause is:
 a) qtubuntu doesn't implement drag&drop
 b) default drag&drop implementation uses a QRasterWindow that crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtubuntu/+bug/1665705
