langpack-o-matic currently discards these two as they aren't sufficiently translated:

    br 2018 (22%) discarded
    cy 3918 (44%) discarded

As soon as they get lifted over the 70% treshold, langpacks will be built for those automatically.

This is the current policy that got set by the touch managers, to ensure that we don't offer translations which are too poor to actually be usable, and to also to not unnecessarily inflate the images.

Sure, but, where do you get those figures? In dpm's website they have
much higher numbers.

Not sure where "dpm's website" is, but maybe that only counts the Ubuntu touch specific apps, not the shared Ubuntu strings from things like PAM or pulseaudio? (Look at an existing touch langpack to see all domains that are installed/marked as relevant for Ubuntu touch).

If some domains can be ignored, dpm can adjust the priorities of those to < 1500 in http://people.canonical.com/~dpm/data/ubuntu-l10n/ubuntu_xenial_potemplate-stats.json .

Thanks for the link. This is the site I was talking about:

By the way, on the phone we are not using Xenial yet.

Regarding this - Martin: should we really be counting only the relevant-for-touch bits when considering langpacks. My thought here is: if an application translation template is not present in the ubuntu-rtm/15.04 translations on Launchpad, this probably means that it is not used/required to be translated by the touch system. Otherwise it would be confusing - translators using our phones and working on translations would never know if their language will pass or not as they wouldn't even know which strings still need translation - as in this case. Really, all the required UI elements should be in the Translatable templates for ubuntu-rtm/15.04. The rest is just an addition that we don't really care about from the release POV.

I don't know too much details regarding how the translation domains are selected by langpack-o-matic, but maybe the pkglist-touch-15.04 list needs to be made smaller to just include those packages that we actually care about?

Just upgraded to image 20160524.1 (15.04 OTA.11) and Welsh and Breton are still not in the selection menu. You sure this is Fix Released?

you're right, language packs for welch (cy) and breton (br) are not in the image.

Ok, so there was a slight misunderstanding here. The bug that was causing the language-packs to be ignored was fixed, so we actually generate language-packs for the selected languages correctly now. What didn't happen was: we didn't include those by default in our images. Eh. Assigning a meta-change request to the bug, waiting for PT approval.

Hello,
I try to put in my ubuntu touch the Breton language (br) for already 2 years. I learned many things by reading this post, thank you.
I actually did translations for Touch but not for any ubuntu string. following the recommendation of david Plannela.
I think, the two languages not yet been added to the image but they still do not exist. Otherwise we could the installed by the terminal.
Here if I'm not mistaken we see that does not exist :

Actually both language packs have been added (Brezhoneg and Cymraeg) They use around 1MB of disk space.
