Hum, if you're hesitating between the 2 behaviors, make it an option so that users can choose the one they like.
Personally, for the main UI, I prefer the old behavior 'Select All', although I can understand why some people prefer a 'No Selected' behavior, which is more cautious and avoids mishandling on the field.
