Comment 15 for bug 1386200

ok this is quite strange because I can't reproduce it and the code seems
correct :-/
so I've applied the patch proposed by Jay Schmidek, plus 2 other minor bug
fixes I found during my tests ;-)
feel free to pull from git and verify, thanks everybody :-)
