which is fine, it means the dock didn't detect a webapp;
what you can try is: edit the google-chrome launcher, and in the "extra
parameters", set the class to "google-chrome"
does it change anything ?

PS: you can just open a terminal, quit the dock, and then launch it from
the terminal ;-)
of course, don't close the terminal then.
