The setup itself is not so much a question of speed, but one of perceived response. Try the exact following command, and time out how long it is until the first status line is output:

  bzr branch lp:ubuntu-font-family-website

(hint: there is another bug at play here, but want I'm seeking to do is highlight the uncertainty for the user)
