Comment 6 for bug 58180

I've just been bitten by this too while trying to convert a git repository (originally a CVS repository) to a bzr repository.

Does the inventory need to enforce this? I'd prefer John's suggestion of emitting a warning.

And isn't this really a problem when creating a working-tree. This restriction would be annoying if I was using a (fictional) file system with no reserved characters?
