Thanks John. I don't fully understand the hash table code but I can certainly see how your fix would avoid a crash in certain circumstances!
If I get a chance I'll see whether I can still reproduce a crash with the fixed pyd file. It's not likely I'll get a chance though with the Christmas holidays rapidly approaching.
