At the moment we have two sets of windows installers for each release, one "python-based" and one "stand alone." And then there are also variations of the python-based installer for different python releases.
There are a few problems with this:
* somewhat more work in making the release
* users may be confused about which one they should install
I don't know if there is a feasible way to resolve this at present, but this bug provides a place to track the issue.
