I've had this problem before with other software. Not with bazaar or Sophos av but with:
McAfee Anti virus and Windows scripting host .js script. It seems like the exact same symptoms. I never found the cause. It would hang for a minute or two. Disabling the on access scan fixed the problem.There was no zipping involved in my .js script AFAIR.
