After another set of upgrades the problem seems to be gone :)
Current configuration:
Fedora 12 x86_64
Bazaar Explorer 1.1.2, QBzr 0.19.3, bzrlib 2.2.2, PyQt 4.7.3, Qt 4.6.2, Python 2.6.2
So probably it was/is a bug in PyQt 4.6.xx
