Bug Description

Was upgrading from 11.10 (which was upgraded from 11.04 and so on going many, many versions back). Then while upgrading, the computer froze, then the screen lost its signal, and finally the computer eventually attempted to reboot it seems. It froze in text mode with some boot up or shutdown messages on screen. Had to force a hard reset.

Hi Mario

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu.

It sounds like (and the logs would confirm this) that you had a fairly major problem during your upgrade:

dpkg-query: warning: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 107172 package 'mortgagedashboard.d5933d05976099a064e8aaf337939cbcf079bb1d.1':
error in Version string 'v1': version number does not start with digit
ot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-24-generic
frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.
/usr/share/debconf/confmodule: line 44: printf: write error: Broken pipe
run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub exited with return code 1
Failed to process /etc/kernel/postinst.d at /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-3.2.0-24-generic.postinst line 1010.

I would try to complete the upgrade process by running:

  sudo apt-get dist-upgrade --fix-broken

Hopefully this should resolve you original upgrade issue which in turn will fixup net-snmp.

Marking this bug as 'Incomplete' - please update this bug report if this resolves your issue.

Thanks
