System Freezes after Undocking then Docking - HP 8740W

Operating System: Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64
Linux laptop01 3.2.0-24-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 25 08:43:22 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Problem Description:
Docking this laptop while running causes the OS to freeze.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I have nearly the same problem with a HP Elitebook 8560w, Nvidia driver, while undocking and docking (after reboot) to the docking station. Difference: Unity freezes, but I can switch to console with STRG+ALT+F1...F6 and reboot there.

Docking or undocking this laptop while running causes Unity to freeze.

For me this happened only with unity. Using Gnome, it didn't happen so far.

OS: Arch Linux with Unity
Lenovo T400 with Advanced Mini Dock
