Bug Description

This is something that I discovered recently during a KARL demo. On my new laptop, which is running Windows 7, none of the mailto links on KARL work. You click on an email link (from the LiveSearch drop down or on a People Directory report for example) and Outlook opens for a second and then crashes. I think that this has to do with the operating system because this doesn't happen on my other work machine running Windows XP Professional or on my Mac at home. The same bug appears regardless of browser - I have confirmed it my Windows 7 machine using IE9, FF and Chrome. This is bad because all of OSF's new computers are running Windows 7.

Is this on the KARL side or the Outlook side? I doubt it's on the Outlook side because I can use mailto links on other websites without any problems...

Hopefully this is an easy fix!

This is going to be hard for anybody on the dev team to work on as we don't have that configuration of software. You and I should look at it today in the office.

In particular, we should examine a mailto link somewhere out in the world that works correctly on your computer and compare it to this one that doesn't.

Good news. I started playing around with turning on and off various Outlook plugins and it looks like this was related the voicemail plugin that sends text versions of VMs via email. Once I turned this off the crashes stopped, so you can void this ticket.

Thanks!

This is going to be hard for anybody on the dev team to work on as we don't have that configuration of software. You and I should look at it today in the office.

In particular, we should examine a mailto link somewhere out in the world that works correctly on your computer and compare it to this one that doesn't.
