Bug Description

Upgraded a wubi install from 10.04.4 to 12.04. Got the above error during the install (as I reported in bug 984593). I think this error/bug is probably a false report since I am typing this from the upgraded install and it's running the 3.2.0-23 kernel.

You may need to run the following:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then re-install the package.

If that does not resolve your issue, please mark the bug as "Confirmed"

Joseph Salisbury,
The bug is about an error I received during the upgrade from 10.04.4 to 12.04. As I said in the description, the error was likely false, since the upgrade worked (and the kernel booted fine). I was testing the Upgrade process at the time (it's a throwaway install). So I'm not sure what running those commands will do to resolve the bug (the point is more that there was an error during an upgrade).

So, I'll leave it as 'incomplete' but please explain further if I missed something as to why I need to run those commands and only mark it 'confirmed' if they 'don't fix' something (that I don't think is really broken.)
