Bug Description

The flashplugin-installer package was updated to 11.2.202.233ubuntu1; however it still pulls down the adobe-flashplugin 11.2.202.228 orig tarball from archive.canonical.com. This will start breaking eventually when the older version gets reaped.

  Preparing to replace flashplugin-installer 11.2.202.228ubuntu3 (using .../flashplugin-installer_11.2.202.233ubuntu1_amd64.deb) ...
  Unpacking replacement flashplugin-installer ...
  Processing triggers for update-notifier-common ...
  flashplugin-installer: downloading http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/adobe-flashplugin_11.2.202.228.orig.tar.gz
  Installing from local file /tmp/tmpamGBHX.gz
  Flash Plugin installed.

The reason this is happening is that in the 11.2.202.233ubuntu1 update, the debian/flashplugin-installer.{config,postinst} were updated with the new version and sha256sums, but the debian/post-download-hook was not, which causes the old version to get downloaded.

(Ultimately, the packaging should get fixed so that only one location needs to be updated with the new flash version and sha256sum rather than three, to prevent errors like this from happening again.)

I should note that you can also verify whether the correct version has been installed by restarting firefox, going to about:plugins and looking to see what the reported flash plugin version is.

This bug was fixed in the package flashplugin-nonfree - 11.2.202.233ubuntu2

---------------
flashplugin-nonfree (11.2.202.233ubuntu2) precise; urgency=low

  [ Steve Beattie <email address hidden> ]
  * debian/post-download-hook: also update version and sha256sum
    (LP: #984267)
    - NOTE to future package updaters: all three locations,
      debian/flashplugin-installer.{config,postinst} and
      debian/post-download-hook, need to be updated when a new version
      of flash comes out.
  * debian/flashplugin-installer.{config,postinst},
    debian/post-download-hook, add debian/README.debian: document
    locations to update when incorporating new flash versions.

  [ Micah Gersten <email address hidden> ]
  * Don't try to create /usr/lib/firefox/plugins, this dir is now owned by
    firefox; The symlink was already dropped in a previous upload
    - update debian/flashplugin-installer.dirs
