Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:
- Open in the editor the tool menu bar and select a tool, let's say the terrain tool. A window will pop up and the cursor will show that you change the terrain (yellow stars).
- Now click (without closing the first window) on another tool in the tool menu, e.g. the ressource tool. The window will open and you can place ressources (the cursor changes).
- Now click on the first tool in the tool menu (here: the terrain tool). Although the window closes, you can use the tool (here: change the terrain).

I suggest that closing the window is only possible with right-clicking on it. The toolbar should only activate the tool and bring its window to the front, but never close it. With the way it works until now, one has to click twice on the tool if the window is already open.

Yes, clicking on a tool in the tool selection which is already open will close this window, even though it activates the tool. I guess this is because the default behaviour of these buttons is to show/hide the corresponding window when clicking on them.

PS. When finding a new bug report which you are able to reproduce, please mark it confirmed. This is done by clicking on the current status in the yellow row beneath the bug title, then selecting another status from the drop-down. This makes it easier for developers to see which bugs are reproducible/issues affecting multiple people. :) For more info, please see http://wl.widelands.org/wiki/TriagingBugs/

Still happens in r6970. I still like my idea: Change the default behavior of the buttons so that they never close the window, but bring it to the fore.

I coudn't confirm this with r7381.

All windows will stay open regardless of clicking on them. I opend "Terrain select", "Resources" and "Animals" and could click between them. The clicked window moves to foreground and the other windows moves to background. No window closes.

I am using widelands on arch-linux.

@#7: I think you did it wrong. You have to click on the icon of the tool in the tool menu, and not on (or in) the window that belongs to the tool. I clarified the description.
I can still trigger this in r7381.

Ahhh, ok. I never thought that this is a bug, because its a logical behavior ( for me :-D ). But your suggestion is good anyway.
