Bug Description

More and more staff are upgrading to machines with Windows 7 and IE9. Since this upgrade, pasting text from from content originating from MS tools has been noticeably worse. Specifically, extra spacing is added and lines of text are breaking and wrapping in bizarre ways. I know we were able to significantly improve cutting and pasting into IE8 with an upgrade to TINYMCE. Can we check to see if there's a newer version of TINYMCE that has better support for IE9?

We are planning to update to latest TinyMCE as part of the new UI effort. Will that be ok schedule-wise?

Download full text (3.2 KiB)

I'll test the TINYMCE branch on KARLDev and see what the status is. If there are a lot of bugs, then it's probably best to wait until the UX2 upgrade, but we'll see after I have time to test.

What's the status on this? We're getting tons of complaints from users that TINYMCE doesn't work with IE9. I think we have to consider updating TINYMCE as a requirement before we go live with UX2 b/c it's really bad right now. I know we had discussed getting a new version of TINYMCE up on KARLDev, but as far as I can tell that hasn't been done. Maybe it's on a branch?

We have a new TinyMCE in UX2. It's being evaluated by you and Tom primarily, so I don't know if it is considered bug free or not. We'll probably do another round of updating to get any bug fixes before we go live. We still have to wire in the Kaltura button and the image drawer, I believe, during this week.

If you'd like an independent effort to get TinyMCE out as part of UX1, we can of course work on that. Not sure the impact on the schedule. The primary issue is, Balazs runs out of Q2 budget on June 17.

OK. But is it on UX2 in production or on UX2 on KARLDev?

I think UX2 in production has a TinyMCE upgrade.

Any idea if the TinyMCE demo site at moxiecode does a decent job at cleaning the HTML from your version of Word?

From what I can tell this is now way better after the TINYMCE upgrade. There are still some spacing issues when pasted text involves complex formatting (bullets, etc.), but for the most part there's a big improvement.
