Ubuntu 12.04 Installation on VirtualBox 4.0.12 r72916 crashes

Trying to install on dynamically sized virtual disk using 2gb system memory, 128mb video memory, 4.5gb swap and the rest ext4 mounted on /. Crashes with and without updates being installed automatically; third party plugin installation selected in both crashes.
