Bug Description

I recently added an RTF book in Calibre which seemed to convert ok, but when I opened it in my eBook reader I noticed that all the images were missing and there was a Calibre logo with a message "WMF not supported, use Word/OpenOffice.org Writer to save the file as HTML and use that in Calibre" instead. Fair enough, but I have now been messing around trying to cajole OpenOffice.org Writer to write a good HTML file which Calibre now appears to be taking forever to convert it. As I write this it's been nearly 30 minutes. Wouldn't it have been more civilized to display a little warning message that images were going to be missing, at least to warn you of your coming problem?? Also, as I'm waiting such a long time for the HTML work-around method to complete, and I still have no idea even if it's any good or not, wouldn't it have been nice to show your user some kind of a clue as to how long it's taking? I mean there isn't even a percentage to indicate how far it's gotten. I mean come on, I even made a donation for this software as I think it could be really useful, but this is very poor show!! Please think about support for WMF, or alternatively at least display some useful warning about the images being missing rather than just let the user find out they're missing, and displaying a clue as to how much much of the conversion there is to complete. Does this seem reasonable? update: a further 37 minutes have passed since I wrote this and no sign of finalization. I notice there is a percentage bar when you click on 'Jobs' but this has been stuck on 67% for all those minutes. This same file as an RTF took about 2 minutes. update2: The time elapsed is now showing 92 minutes, and the progress bar is still stuck on 67%...

HI Kovid,

The transaction ID for my $20 donated to you on the 25th of March is
as follows:
2D913667FU5934708.

I did not request a refund, and I am not sure what your point is, but
if you wanna give it back then do so.

Thanks,
Pablo.

Refunded. My point is simply that I do not want to take money from people that
are not happy with calibre.

Hi Kovid,

Ok my friend.  Calibre is a great and useful program, the me being an
arsehole bit you probably are talking about should not be taken in bad
faith.  I want Calibre to be the best.  But anyway, no hard feelings
I hope.  All the best and I hope you become the greatest programmer
ever!! :D
Take care,
Pablo.

Refunded. My point is simply that I do not want to take money from
people that are not happy with calibre.
