Bug Description

This is what I get when trying to connect to UbuntuOne (I can do it by using a terminal only--minimalistic ubuntu installation):

ModelEarth:~# ubuntuone-control-panel-qt
Unhandled error in Deferred:
Unhandled Error
Traceback (most recent call last):
Failure: ubuntuone.platform.tools.linux.IPCError: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply:

??
Is there any other command I could use to connect to UbuntuOne?

Thanks Mr. Jan Hearthstone.

I have solved the issue here. First login into https://login.ubuntu.com/, click the Applications tab and remove the devices. Then delete ~/.config/ubuntuone

lovinglinux, this bug is a duplicate of bug #440351. If you are experiencing a crash, please report a new bug with the details of the crash.

If there is belief that it isn't a duplicate, it would be nice for the original reporter to confirm that, by clarifying the report. The current description suggests he was attempting to run ubuntuone-control-panel-qt in an environment without a graphical display ("terminal only -- minimalistic ubuntu installation"). There are no logs or other sufficient information to suggest otherwise.

Thanks.

affects: ubuntuone-client → ubuntuone-control-panel

Rodney, I am not running a command-line only environment and I have experienced the same error. I believe the original reporter just used the wrong terminology, otherwise he would experience the same error, because the GUI wouldn't even load.

Anyway, I have already provided the solution on my previous post.

Correcting my previous statement: "would experience the same error" should read "wouldn't experience the same error"

Dear lovinglinux,

I did exactly as you suggested--I removed ~/.config/ubuntuone, then I
ran "ubuntuone-control-panel-qt" and got:

Unhandled error in Deferred:
Unhandled Error
Traceback (most recent call last):
Failure: ubuntuone.platform.tools.linux.IPCError:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply:

This time I got the GUI, but the GUI wouldn't do anything at all--just
sitting there ...

Thanks, Hearthstone.

The workaround suggested by lovinglinux does work for me.

Same problem here.

Using awesome WM, not gnome.

Only solution found is to run nm-applet, use it to connect to the internet, then launch u1 and enter my passwd to unlock Gnome's keychain.

Apparently it's some DBus/Gnome crap... u1 is not working in standalone mode, but only together with nautilus...

Thank you everyone, long time ago I went back to Debian, so this is not an issue for me anymore.
