Why is this moved to 2012.04.Alpha-1? Are we sure this didn't make it into the kernel that is in the PPA.

Kernel is not involved, this is an u-boot environment change.

I was able to reproduce this by making an eMMC image with hwpack_linaro-lt-snowball_20120327-1_armel_supported.tar.gz which definitely has a non-broken u-boot, so I'm not sure where the issue comes from. Possible culprits are the u-boot env from startupfiles (but they worked previously and haven't been updated recently) or linaro-image-tools.

In any case, this needs further investigations.

Thomas: The question then is should we push this to 2012.04 release and skip the Alpha-1. I suggest we do.

The reason that this bug is for 12.04 Alpha-1 is that we need to make sure that we do don't get Kernel panic when booting on eMMC with the hwpack/rootfs that we release for that Milestone.

U-Boot environment in startupfiles happened to be a snapshot from between working versions.

This is now fixed, and an updated package (3.0.7.1-0) is pushed to the PPA.
