Bug Description

The application "Planner" lacks a desktop file. Thus, it does not show up in the menu/dash.

It looks like the package has been split into "planner" and "planner-data" for Precise, there was only one package "planner" in Oneiric. The desktop file /usr/share/applications/planner.desktop seems to have been lost in this process. It probably belongs into planner-data, but none of the packages contains it.

I hope this fix has been submitted to the Debian maintainers of the package.

I am going to push this up to Debian, yes. I submitted it into Ubuntu as we are relatively late in the Precise cycle and I wanted this package to be usable on release (I see having to launch a program like this from the terminal a fairly important usability issue). There is no guarantee that it would get into Debian and then back down before we hit too restrictive freezes.

please forward the patch to debian, they have now uploaded a new version without the fix and I can't find a forwarded bug.
