This might possibly be a crash. Could you please check /var/crash folder to see if there is a "_usr_bug_nautilus.1000.crash" file generated?

No, there is no crashfile generated. The folder /var/crash/ contains no
files at all.

Hello, I just tried this out with ubuntu12.04 daily build and there appears
the same problem.
I built a persistent usb device with 12.04 on.
I boot via the usb
I put in another usb device and open nautilus. I open the usb-device in
nautilus and then, without closing the nautilus window, where the contents
of the device are displayed, I unmount the device via nautilus (little
switch besides the mounted usb device [by the way what means "/cow"?? It
appears if you stay with the mouse coursor on the switch??]), then after
clicking the switch the usb-device dismounts and the nautilus window shuts.
