here the log files - i just installed feisty from the monday (2.4.07)
iso image. same result. the printer is seen and detected by cups, but
nothing is printed. the job stays in the queue as 'job-printing).

(i saw in another instance that a probem with
'authentication/autorization' was logged? is that possible).

i attache the desired log files - i hope they contain some useful
information.
thank you for your efforts to solve this problem (it was created in
feisty about 2 weeks ago. before the printer worked).

You don't have a printer configured.
Please setup your LaserJet 1000 using the foo2zjs driver, you probably need to install the firmware of your printer as described in bug #96454.

the instructions in bug 96454 did not work for me. i then used the instruction on

http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/

and now the printer works.

it would be a good idea if there was at least an error message when trying to install a laserjet 1000 (and similar cases) that some special procedure are to be followed and instructions!

thanks for the help
andrew
