after opening a file in Totem (or VLC) Xorg crashes

Bug Description

Opening a file with VLC or Totem Xorg crashes. The application start correctly, it happens when the file is played.
Thinking it was a Compiz problem , I tryed under Unity2d but it still happens .. and again in Gnome.

The bug doesn't affect the same distro ona machine with nvidia card. Is that issue ATI related?

I have the same bug. Can't play videos in totem and vlc. When I tried then crashed X and I will logouted...

X shouldn't crash even if the media player is doing something wrong.

Please run 'apport-collect 942821' to attach the X logs and so on.

Also collect a full backtrace on this crash - see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for guidance.

Now all's ok. I tried opening VLC and now X works perfectly. Maybe last
upgrades fixed the issue.
