Binary package hint: restricted-manager

I manually configured xserver-xorg to use non-detected resolutions. After installing nvidia with r-m it reverts back to autodetected resolutions.

   * RestrictedManager/{xorg_driver,nvidia,fglrx}.py: Do not assume that the
     kernel module name always matches the X.org driver module name
     (nvidia_legacy vs. nvidia), but instead pass the X.org driver name as a
     separate attribute. ((LP: #92849, part two)
   * RestrictedManager/modalias.override: Add NV44A [GeForce 6200] (not covered
     by nvidia_supported). (LP: #93209)
   * RestrictedManager/core.py: When loading default or special handlers, check
     that there is actually a kernel module behind. Otherwise we will display
     handlers with overrides on platforms which do not actually provide those
     modules. (LP: #93368)

It selected resolution 1024x768, but my default resolution is 1280x800. This resolution was selected as default during feisty installation.

zeddock, just update your system (there is a notification bubble that tells you about pending updates).

The update should work on Feisty Fawn, Herd 5? Is it possible that I need
to add something to the Sources list?

Unless you manually modified it, no.

Just select the default Feisty repositories in Synaptic, or manually
edit sources.list to contain

  deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty main restricted

(or, preferably, a mirror close to you)
