Bug Description

On an MSI PR600 laptop:

My default output port is: "Analog Speakers".
When I plug in my earphons, the output port autoswitches to "Analog earphones", where I can barely hear audio unless I turn up the volume to 11.

Setting the output port to "Analog Speakers" works, and output only to the earphones, unplugging the earphones causes the audio to come out of the speakers as expected.

As a workaround, I've commented out module-switch-on-port-available , and now the system works as expected.

I also have no option to use both outputs at the same time, which I can find usefull on rare occations.

I belive the automated tool picked up any relevant info, but if some info is missing I'll be glad to provide it.

Aha, you have the two volumes on the same DAC bug. It's fixed in 12.04.

I don't think this is fixed in 12.04.

I have an asus G73Sw and when I tried the Live CD, headphones didn't work.
When I upgraded from 11.10 (where everthing was working fine) I could not get it work by fooling around with the sound control under preferences. but it would not persist across a reboot. Since then I've performed a fresh install and I can only get my onboard speakers to work. And no headphone output at all when I plug the head phone jack in, even though sound control acknowledges that the headphones are plugged in.

I'm thinking about filing a big against 12.04 but wanted to do my research first. It is annoying as my external speakers are driven via my headphones jack.
