Bug Description

I use Ubuntu Oneiric and have a M-Audio Fasttrack Pro USB sound card. Playback workes out of the box. But when I wanted to record something, I noticed, that there was no Input device in the audio settings for the Fasttrack Pro. I remembered an older bug and applied the fix (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/569932) but it still didn't show up.
As profiles I had
IEC958 Stereo Output and
Analog Stereo Output.

So I searched for iec958 in the other conf files and found it in extra-hdmi.conf

When I now comment out the ATTRS{vendor}=="0x8086", ENV{PULSE_PROFILE_SET}="extra-hdmi.conf" in /lib/udev/rules.d/90-pulseaudio.rules, restart pulseaudio and reconnect my device the profiles from maudio-fasttrack-pro.conf show up.
The comment above those extra-hdmi-lines says it should affect nvidia and intel cards, but why does it affect my Fasttrack Pro?

Attached are 2 Pulseaudio-logs:
1. with the 90-pulseaudio.rules untouched
2. with the line uncommented
(I renamed two profiles/mappings to say something with "djfun", so I was sure which conf file they came from)

Hi martin, and thanks for reporting this bug. The only way I can think of is if maybe the USB controller is Intel or NVidia, and it somehow manages to match against that. Could you attach the output of "udevadm info --export-db", please?

  * Move the main pulse ALSA configuration file, pulse.conf to

  * Disable the dbus-protocol by default, as there have been recent reports

    trustworthy.
